Load diagram for steel spindles
- statically evenly distributed load
- maximum angular distortion of the spindle is 40' = 0.00116 rad
- maximum permissible material tension 120 N/mm²
- laid loose across two supports; the supports cannot take up any
torque at all and the spindle ends can move axially
- clamped fast to two supports; the ends of the spindle can not
shift axially at all, the largest possible moment can be absorbed

|
|
N.B.
In practice the actual load capacity of
a spindle that has been fixed in place will lie between the values
"loose" and "clamped" in the above diagram,
varying with the stiffness of the frame.
